Evercreech Walking Group

Spring / Summer 2018

We started the year on 1st January as it happened to fall on a Monday. A large and hardy group shrugged off the excesses of New Year’s Eve to brave the rain on a walk to Batcombe.  Whether it was the hair of the dog, or to celebrate the New Year, we stopped off at the Three Horseshoes to dry off and warm ourselves by the fire.  One or two were slightly reluctant to leave the warmth and elected to practice their map reading skills to make their own way back, or did they get a lift?

In March the group enjoyed a dry but muddy walk back from Castle Cary and once again some of the group saw places that they had never seen before, despite living locally for many years.  It just goes to show that despite “knowing the area” there are always places to discover on foot, usually missed when travelling by car.

By the time you read, hopefully this the group will have discovered something new to see as on Easter Monday we will be walking through Dinder Wood on our circular walk from Croscombe.
