Evercreech Village Hall was built in 1934 and since then it has played a major part in village activities.  Although the Hall is over 70 years old it has been subject to continuous improvement to provide comfortable facilities for everyone.   In 2000 a new extension was built on to the front of the hall providing a large entrance lobby with full wheelchair access through large double doors into the main hall.  There are no steps to contend with and the floor is level and smooth.  There is a specially designated disabled parking area at the front of the Hall.   Further upgrades and improvements have taken place over the years and in 2010 and 2014/15, thanks to generous grants from Viridor Credits and Somerset Community Foundation, we have been able to carry out major, much needed further improvements to the hall.  We are very grateful to both these organisations for their generosity.

Update From the Secretary to the Trustees

We were delighted to be told that our application to Awards For All for funds to purchase the fitting of a new projector and screen was successful. This would not have been possible without the hard work and perseverance of our committee member, Nic Jefferis, who not only applied for the funds but also sourced all the equipment. Thank you Nic.  We now have a state of the art projector and a very large screen that drops down from the top of the stage. Instructions for use have been given to interested parties who use the Hall and whose guest speakers will be able to make use of it. There was some local interest in starting a Film Club but unfortunately that has stalled but we are open to all suggestions so we can make good use of this impressive equipment.  Local clubs/charities will not be charged for the use of the projector and screen but there will be a charge of £25.00 for commercial use/private parties.

Our next project will be the refurbishment of the main hall kitchen.  We have decided on a new layout that will hopefully provide more space and have approached builders for quotes. We hope to be able to carry out this work early in 2017.

Our potato lunches continue to be a popular social event and still produce excellent lunches at a very affordable price.  They are held on the third Tuesday of each month and we are always delighted to welcome new ‘diners’ to the lunches. These lunches are very important for our fund raising and we are thrilled to see the numbers of people who attend growing as the word spreads about the quality of the lunches and tasty desserts.

We shall also be looking very festive this Christmas as we have retired our old and rather sad looking Christmas decorations and will be getting new Christmas lights to string from the uprights and ceiling.

With Christmas still in mind we will be holding our Christmas Bingo on Saturday, 10th December so please put this date in your diary.  The doors will open at 6.45 pm with eyes down at 7.30 pm and we look forward to another great evening.

Finally, as notified in our May EDIS report, the main hall hire charge will increase to £10.00 per hour from the
1st January 2017 for local clubs/charities and to £20.00 per hour for commercial use/private parties.

a community centre at the heart of the village.
