Shepton Mallet Almshouses

For nearly 400 years Shepton Mallet and surrounding villages have been served by Almshouses for the benefit of older people who need good, central accommodation on a small budget.

There are 12 properties and 9 of them are listed buildings the majority of which have been upgraded to modern standards. All are centrally heated have kitchens and bathrooms and are fully carpeted; they all have small gardens; four are bungalows.  It is the aim of the Trustees to provide a home to over 55’s for as long as they can look after their own needs although there is a weekday Warden service for support and advice. Residents can join in and enjoy occasional Open Day events and teas; this year there is to be a Christmas Lunch.

Should you want further information or want to apply to join our waiting list please look at our website: or contact Mrs Dawn Gould, Clerk to the Trustees on 01749 838646

Evercreech currently is home to 2 Trustees and our Clerk; we currently have two Trustee vacancies and if you are a practical person with useful skills that you think would help us we would like to hear from you. There are 4 meetings a year and Trustees would be expected to help on sub-committees and at Residents’ functions. Details again from Dawn as above.
